Aspiring Scientists Training Programme

Applications for 2023 have now closed

The Sainsbury Laboratory has joined the Aspiring Scientists Training Programme (ASTP), which is designed to give A-level biology students a chance to experience life as a University of Cambridge student, working in labs alongside the university's scientists and staying in a Cambridge college.

An initiative of the Gurdon Institute, this year's 2023 programme is being run by St Catharine’s College and the Gurdon Institute, in collaboration with Pembroke College, the Sainsbury Laboratory, Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, MRC – Mitochondrial Biology Unit, and Wellcome-MRC Institute of Metabolic Science from Sunday 9 July 2023 to Friday 14 July 2023.

This programme is for students in state (non-fee paying) schools, ages 16+ who are currently pursuing A-level/IB/Higher level (or equivalent) qualifications in biology and who are interested in higher education or a career in science.
