Saruhan is an experienced plant scientist with expertise across multiple disciplines, including academic research, Ag-tech, and operations management. Currently, he is the Horticultural Facility Supervisor at the Sainsbury Laboratory, where he manages sophisticated glasshouse and plant growth suites that facilitate advanced plant science research.
He earned his BSc in Agricultural Engineering and an MSc in Horticultural Sciences. His career seamlessly blends both academic and commercial research settings, equipping him with a robust scientific background and practical skills for managing research infrastructure at the Sainsbury Laboratory.
Saruhan has acquired significant international business experience throughout Europe, having lived and worked abroad. Before joining the Sainsbury Laboratory, he was a Research Manager at a UK-based vertical farming technology firm. There, he led scientific trials, supported a multidisciplinary research team, and developed high efficiency, data driven cultivation systems.
Saruhan is particularly passionate about Ag-tech innovation, research management, process enhancement, and team development. He is dedicated to enhancing collaboration between technical and scientific teams, aligning operational excellence with research objectives to promote both scientific accuracy and resilient infrastructure.
