Sainsbury Laboratory

 

The Sainsbury Laboratory is not open to the public. All visits must be pre-arranged and supervised by SLCU hosts.

The Cambridge University Herbarium (CGE) and Cory and Herbarium Libraries are both located within the Sainsbury Laboratory building. The Cory & Herbarium Libraries are open to members of the Department of Plant Sciences, the Cambridge University Botanic Garden and the Sainsbury Laboratory to visit. Find out about visiting the Cory and Herbarium Libraries.

 

Finding us:

The Sainsbury Laboratory entrance is on Bateman Street, which is one-way. The turning (shown below) is just before the streets fifth bollard at number 47. Turn into this short track and up to the black entrance gate where you may use the intercom to speak to reception or security.

How to find us

Train: walking from the station

The Sainsbury Laboratory is located only 1 km, or 0.6 of a mile, from Cambridge Station.

Head west along Station Rd | Turn right at Hills Road (A1307) | Turn left at Bateman Street | Turn left at entrance {#47, before 5th bollard} | Intercom reception or security

After entering the gates, turn left and follow the gravel driveway with a cream wall on your right. The Sainsbury Laboratory is on the right at the end of the drive.

Other: cycle/bus/car

  • CYCLE
    As Cambridge is famous for the number of bicycle users it has the Sainsbury Laboratory has ensured a large area of cycle storage* is available. A guide to the routes and ease of access has been made available by Cambridgeshire Council.
  • BUS
    There are numerous bus services passing or terminating around Bateman Street, details of all these services can be obtained from the Cambridgeshire Bus Info website.
  • CAR
    The easiest way to travel access Cambridge by car is to utilise the Park '&' Ride. Alternatively there is local metered parking.
