My research focuses on the molecular mechanisms and signalling networks underlying pollen-stigma recognition. Specifically, I have studied two critical aspects of pollen-stigma interactions: the role of signalling factors mediating cell-cell recognition and the programmed cell death of pollen tubes induced by self-incompatibility.

My research has always been focused to deciphering molecular basis of plant reproduction and development. I have a PhD in Plant biotechnology from Cinvestav Mexico where I was working on asexual reproduction in Agave plants. I started to work with maize as a model in a postdoctoral stay at the University of California Berkeley, carrying out protein-protein interaction analysis of new components on developmental signaling.
