My research has always been focused to deciphering molecular basis of plant reproduction and development. I have a PhD in Plant biotechnology from Cinvestav Mexico where I was working on asexual reproduction in Agave plants. I started to work with maize as a model in a postdoctoral stay at the University of California Berkeley, carrying out protein-protein interaction analysis of new components on developmental signaling. Then I worked at the University of Massachusetts Amherst on identification of MADS-box protein complexes in planta. In the last years, I have combined my research on plants with antibody design, as a tool for protein localization in situ. My current focus is the discovery of molecular mechanisms underpinning floral organ development in grasses that may contribute to improve yield.
